These designs depicting a violin on colorful backgrounds are for violinists and lovers of the violin and violin music. The violin is a magical instrument that touches the soul and can leave the listener breathless.
The sound of a violin has been described as the voice of an angel, close to nature, beautiful, lovely, powerful and awesome. Most people appreciate beauty of the sound that can be coaxed from this string instrument, the highest pitched of the violin family (violin, viola and cello).
The violin was developed in the north part of Italy in the 1500's. Legend has it that Nero played the fiddle (violin) as Rome burned in 64 AD/CE, but this is not possible as there were no violins until about 1500 year later. Some say that perhaps he was played a lyre which is a string instrument without a bow that Nero had been known to use in musical performances. But then still others say that Nero didn't play either a violin or a lyre as he watched Rome burn, because he was in Antium (now Anzio) when the fire took place.
Dabbling violinists include Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, Woodrow Wilson, Albert Einstein and Meryl Streep.
